Enquanto Moçambique se prepara para exportar gás natural, observando US $ 96 bilhões em receita, planeja estabelecer um fundo soberano de riqueza no final de 2022. 

As autoridades estão finalizando o projeto de legislação que governará o fundo, informou a Bloomberg, citando o ministro das Finanças, Max Tonela. O fundo ficará operacional até outubro, antes que as exportações de gás natural liquificada comecem a fluir de um projeto offshore que a empresa de petróleo e gás multinacional italiana Eni Spa está desenvolvendo.

Segundo o plano, 50 % das receitas do fundo devem ser reinjetadas no fundo, enquanto os 50 % restantes serão destinados ao orçamento do governo durante os primeiros 20 anos de produção de GNL. Essa abordagem ajudará a garantir a economia e a estabilidade fiscal de que os preços das commodities flutuam.

A empresa de petróleo e gás multinacional francesa total retomará um projeto de US $ 20 bilhões no final do ano, que deve produzir até 13,1 milhões de toneladas de GNL por ano. Além disso, a ExxonMobil também tomará uma decisão final para um projeto ainda maior em um futuro próximo.
