A Área 4 entrou oficialmente na fase de Design de Engenharia Front-End (FEED) do Rovuma LNG. Operador da Área 4, Moçambique A Rovuma Venture (MRV) adjudicou e executou contratos FEED para competir pela engenharia, aquisição e construção (EPC) do desenvolvimento do Rovuma LNG. Esta fase FEED deverá durar cerca de 16 meses e é a última etapa antes de uma Decisão Final de Investimento (FID).
Este marco marca um passo crucial no desenvolvimento do projecto Rovuma LNG, sinalizando o compromisso da Área 4 com a excelência e inovação no sector do petróleo e gás. O Projecto Rovuma LNG irá produzir, liquefazer e comercializar gás natural a partir dos reservatórios do bloco Área 4 da bacia offshore do Rovuma e inclui a construção de 12 módulos de 1,5 MTA cada, com uma capacidade total de GNL de 18 milhões de toneladas anuais, bem como instalações terrestres associadas. A colaboração com os consórcios EPC garantirá um processo FEED robusto e eficiente, preparando o terreno para uma implementação bem-sucedida do projeto. Espera-se que o design modular do e-LNG, com módulos fabricados fora do local e depois montados em Afungi, Moçambique, aumente a competitividade e a flexibilidade do projeto e reduza a presença no local e os riscos de execução. Além disso, este projeto terá emissões de GEE mais reduzidas do que o conceito anterior.
Comentando sobre o mais recente marco do projecto RLNG, Frank Kretschmer, Presidente da ExxonMobil Moçambique, disse: “A adjudicação e execução dos contratos FEED é um passo significativo para o desenvolvimento do projecto Rovuma LNG de classe mundial. Continuaremos a trabalhar com o Governo para maximizar os benefícios a longo prazo que este projecto trará ao povo de Moçambique.”
