A National Petroleum Corporation (NAMCOR) da Namíbia e a Chevron Namibia Exploration Limited (CNEL) assinaram um acordo que concede à Chevron uma participação operacional de 80% num PEL 82 offshore da Namíbia.

Nos termos do acordo, a NAMCOR e o parceiro local Custos Energy manterão uma participação de 10% na licença situada na Bacia de Walvis. A parceria sublinha o compromisso da NAMCOR em maximizar a exploração dos recursos offshore da Namíbia, particularmente em bacias subexploradas que apresentam vantagens significativas.

De acordo com o Diretor Geral Interino da NAMCOR, Ebson Uanguta, o acordo reflete a importância de alavancar conhecimentos e recursos globais para promover os interesses nacionais e o desenvolvimento do setor upstream.

“A nossa parceria com o CNEL e a Custos Energy representa uma visão partilhada para o futuro do panorama energético da Namíbia”, afirmou Uanguta.

O acordo está sujeito a aprovações regulatórias do Ministério de Minas e Energia da Namíbia.
