O Conselho da Ionic Rare Earths Limited anunciou que a Diretoria de Pesquisa Geológica e Minas de Uganda (DGSM) concedeu provisoriamente a Licença de Mineração em Grande Escala Estágio 1 (LML00334) sobre a Licença de Retenção (RL) 1693 para o Projeto Makuutu Heavy Rare Earths.

Isto representa a primeira licença de mineração em grande escala a ser concedida em Uganda sob a Lei de Mineração 2022, que foi anunciado no portal do Cadastro Mineiro do Uganda. Espera-se que a Ministra da Energia e Desenvolvimento Mineral do Uganda (MEMD), a Honorável Dra. Ruth Nankabirwa Ssentamu, assine os documentos esta semana, antes da publicação oficial.

O Diretor Geral da Ionic Rare Earths, Sr. Tim Harrison, disse que o prêmio provisório faz parte do compromisso oficial do Governo da República de Uganda e abre o caminho para o Makuutu Projecto e o desenvolvimento contínuo da indústria mineira do Uganda.

“Este é um passo importante para as terras raras iônicas na mineração, refino e reciclagem do terras raras pesadas, críticas para a transição energética, fabricação avançada e defesa”, disse Harrison.

“Isso reforça o Projeto Makuutu de Terras Raras Pesadas como um dos maiores e mais avançados ativos de elementos de terras raras pesadas prontos para desenvolvimento do mundo, e estamos ansiosos para avançando nas próximas etapas e comissionando nossa planta de demonstração em Makuutu.”
