A Eni Bacia do Rovuma (ERB) anuncia o início da produção de óleo vegetal que será utilizado como matéria-prima nas biorrefinarias da Eni. Esta iniciativa insere-se na estratégia da Eni de contribuir para a descarbonização dos transportes e incluirá Moçambique na cadeia de valor da mobilidade sustentável.
O óleo vegetal foi extraído de subprodutos de fábricas locais de agroprocessamento, que são certificados pelo esquema ISCC-UE, evitando mudanças no uso da terra, garantindo a rastreabilidade, o respeito ao meio ambiente e aos direitos humanos.
A ERB pretende continuar a desenvolver o projecto em Moçambique, envolvendo milhares de agricultores locais e desenvolvendo a plataforma industrial para a produção de matérias-primas agrícolas no país, promovendo o desenvolvimento socioeconómico nas áreas rurais e a regeneração de terras agrícolas degradadas.
O ERB apoiará os agricultores através da transferência de conhecimentos e da introdução da mecanização e de melhores práticas, para desenvolver e reforçar ainda mais as capacidades locais.
A Eni está presente em Moçambique desde 2006; é o operador delegado do projecto Coral Sul, que foi o primeiro a produzir gás na Bacia do Rovuma, em Moçambique. Além das atividades Upstream em Moçambique, a Eni também está empenhada em desempenhar um papel decisivo no processo de transição energética para um futuro de baixo carbono, com o objetivo de alcançar a neutralidade carbónica líquida até 2030 (emissões de Âmbito 1 e 2). Moçambique desempenha um papel importante na estratégia de descarbonização da Eni, graças aos programas de matérias-primas agrícolas, projectos florestais e outras iniciativas de compensação de carbono, visando as emissões residuais da Eni e ao mesmo tempo impactando positivamente as comunidades locais em termos de desenvolvimento económico e social.
